A seagull flies past a post-modern Miami Beach lifeguard stand designed by architect William Lane.
A series of imaginative lifeguard stands -- each different -- that Lane designed in 1993 were inspired by South Beach's Deco, modernist and pop art heritage, and became instant and beloved local landmarks.
Lane said this llttle building was inspired by the shape of vintage Art Deco table radios.
