The City of Kathmandu

The city of Kathmandu, seen from the temple hill of Swyambhu in the early 1980s. At center are the pagoda temples and the white, royal palace in Dubar Square, plus the 203-feet-tall Dharahara Tower, built in 1832 as a military lookout post, but destroyed by an earthquake in 2015. At lower left is a suspension footbridge over the Vishnumati River.
