Goat sacrificed to a taxi in Kathmandu on Navami
A goat scarificed to a taxi on Navami, the ninth day of Desain, a Hindu festival in Nepal. The animal sacrifice, it is said, will protect the vehicle from accidents during the coming year. So, on Navami, sacrificial animals are slaughtered all over the Kathmandu Valley and their blood is sprayed on all sorts of vehicles -- from tractors to the jet airliners -- to bless and protect them. This is a Hindu thing, and Nepali Buddhists do not perform this ritual.
