Art Deco and MiMo: The Sea Isle (Miami Beach Ocean Resort) and the San Souci hotels

A double expossure: Designed in 1940 by Roy France in the Art Deco style, the Sea Isle Hotel (also known as the Miami Beach Ocean Resort) boasts a remarkable decorative finial, or ornamental crown. To the left is a bit of the San Souci Hotel, designed by France and Morris Lapidus in 1949 in a newer Miami Modern (MiMo) style. Photographed in September 1996.
