Fake McDonald's in Kathmandu, Nepal -- globalization
Not a real McDonald's in Kathmandu, Nepal, this eatery catering to travelers was owned by a guy from San Francisco. He and his Nepali partner served Italian food. This knock-off or counterfeiting of the McDonald's brand (albeit with a slightly different spelling) exemplifies globalization and the penetrating power of American brand names and corporate culture even in this once-remote Himalayan Shangri-la.
